PhD student
Micaela is currently enrolled in the Human Centered Computing PhD program with a specialization in Cognitive Science. Before joining the PhD program, she completed her bachelorās in Political Science and minor in Sociology from Georgia State University, where she was named Valedictorian of her graduating class. She is interested in the domains of Cognitive Science and Human-Centered AI, with a focus on leveraging biometric feedback to support cognitive resilience in the age of GenAI, including her longitudinal study since 2023 with over 1,000 responses on The GenAI Generation: Student Perceptions on Cognition and Career with GenAI Survey. At the Georgia Tech Research Instituteās (GTRI) Health Emerging and Advanced Technologies Division (HEAT-D), Micaela serves as a Research Scientist II leading projects in LLM-based entity extraction, geospatial public health analysis, and human mobility modeling. She previously served as Interim Division Chief Scientist to secure independent research funding, and has been awarded GTRI STING Peopleās Choice of 2025 and GTRIās 2021 GRA of the Year.
